Quick Bid allows you to open multiple databases at the same time. You will only be able to work on one bid at a time, but keeping multiple databases open allows you to switch between projects and databases with just one click. Over the course of time, you will, no doubt, create more than one database. Many clients have databases for each job, estimator, regional area, etc. You manage which databases are open (active) using the Open Databases dialog box.
Right-click anywhere in the Bids tab window or the Bid Navigator window and select Open or click the Open icon, from the Main toolbar or click FILE>Open.
The Open Databases dialog box will open:
\
Some of the buttons and or functions will be suppressed or different if you are using an SQL database.
The Properties button opens the Database Properties dialog where you can view/change the Backup and Auto-Compress schedules and choose whether or not to require logins.
The Compact/Repair button rebuilds the database while compressing and repairing it.
The Backup button backs up selected database to the locations you entered under Tools>Options>Folders.
The Find button allows you to browse your computer, the network if enabled, for other databases and for SQL database.
Use the Remove button to select a database from outside the default directory (C:\OCS Documents\Quick Bid) and remove it from your list of databases. The displayed list of databases will no longer show the removed database name.
To open a database or add a database to the list of databases in the Bid Navigator:
Place a check in the check box next to the database(s) you want to open.
If your database is password protected, type in your Login Name and Password in the dialog that appears, then click .
To close a database, so it does not appear on your screen, remove the check box next to the database name.
When you close a database, you do not lose any information in your bids. Closing the database removes the database from your Bids window only. This allows you to see only those databases you are actively using.
