Synchronizing Databases
Synchronizing Databases copies information contained in the Master Menu tables of one database into another database. By default, all tables will be copied to new database - there are options to select only certain tables to copy.
When synchronizing databases, the database from which information is being copied is called the Source database, and the database to which information is being copied is called the Destination database.
NOTES:
Keep in mind that when synchronizing databases, no information is actually removed from the Source database. It is only being added to the Destination database. The synchronization process affects databases only and does not affect individual bids.
Some companies keep a Master Database and use this to create new databases, saving a great deal of time. |
When you synchronize a database, you can either synchronize all of the tables or any combination of tables. Because information from one table may affect information in another table, it is usually best to Synchronize all Master menu tables.
Click Tools > Synchronize Databases - the Synchronize Databases dialog appears.
Synchronize all Master menu tables (default), or uncheck the box next to Synchronize all Master menu tables and select only the tables you want to synchronize.
Click Start. When synchronization is complete, you can open the database and begin your project.
Additional Information: Synchronizing databases does not copy or transfer and BID information, only the master tables are affected. If you need to transfer bids from one database to another, see Copying Bid(s). |
WARNING: Synchronizing databases does NOT copy over Estimator/Employee LOGIN information (the employees will be copied to the new database, but you would need to add their login and password information manually). |
