Note

Applies to On-Screen Takeoff v.3.98.14.04 and newer.

The Simplify Area Takeoff tool is only accessible to users under a current maintenance subscription. To renew your maintenance, contact your Customer Success Manager.

Sometimes, when you or Takeoff Boost creates an area object, there are too many perimeter segments (for example, when you're following a curve, but not using the Curved Area Tool), or other complex polygonal shapes. You may want to reduce the number of perimeter segments to "simplify" the takeoff object, On-Screen Takeoff makes it easy to do just that.

To simplify an area takeoff object,

  • Click the the select tool is an arrow that points up and to the left button on the Takeoff Tools toolbar
  • Select the object you want to simplify

Area object before simplify - unnecessary vertices and segments

While the object is selected, click the Simplify Area Takeoff button.

Area object after simplify - fewer vertices and segments

By removing unneeded vertices, you are left with longer, straighter perimeter segments which makes further adjustments (such as resizing) much easier.
