CPC files are a proprietary file type used by some planrooms. On-Screen Takeoff versions 3.98.05 and earlier (any released prior to August 2022) included a CPC file converter, available free. As fewer and fewer customer use this proprietary file type, we have decided to remove the converter in OST 3.98.06.
You can continue to use CPC files, but you must convert them to TIFF before loading them into a project in OST.
Can I use CPC files in On-Screen Takeoff?
Yes, but you must convert CPC files to TIF or PDF outside On-Screen Takeoff as the converter is not included.
Will My Existing Jobs Be Affected When I convert CPC files?
No. Because previous versions of On-Scree Takeoff converted all CPC files to TIFF (and updated the links in the Cover Sheet to the converted TIFF files).
What if I Use the Planroom tab in On-Screen Takeoff to download CPC Files
Although the files will download into your projects folder (usually in your OCS Documents\OST folder), they cannot be accessed through On-Screen Takeoff. Go ahead and download them all, close On-Screen Takeoff, and then convert them to TIFF. Then, create a new project and load those converted TIFF files in as your images files. You will no longer receive updates if revisions are posted at the planroom, so you will need to check the project regularly, at the planroom, to see any changes. We encourage you to contact your planroom and ask them to post more mainstream files, such as PDFs or TIFFs.
