Copying Image Files from CD to your Hard Drive

If you are not using the Bid Quick Start Wizard to create your bids, you should copy all your plan files to your local hard drive before creating a project. If you don't, it is possible that the link will be broken if the CD is not immediately available when the project is selected. For example, if the CD is removed from your CD Drive or if the CD Drive is in a powered-down state.

To save images from a CD to your hard drive (do this before you add them to an On-Screen Takeoff project):

  1. Open My Computer (Windows Explorer)

  2. Navigate to the CD drive and double-click on it

  3. Right-click on the folder that contains your images, and select Copy (or select all of the images/folders by pressing <Ctrl> <A> on your keyboard)

  4. Navigate to the drive where all the Image files for your projects are saved (by default, C:\OCS Documents\OST)

  5. Create a new folder in that location based on the name of your current project - review Windows Help for more information on creating folders

  6. Right-click and choose Paste

Windows will copy all of the images to your hard drive. Once completed, you can add the images to a new or existing project using this new location.
