Changing the Image File Path
Sometimes, after initially creating a project and adding Images to the Cover Sheet, the location where the images are stored will change. The folder may be renamed or it may be moved to a network location or from a CD to a local drive. This will cause the 'link' that On-Screen Takeoff makes to that file to break and the image will not be displayed.
When an Image File is displayed in red text on the Cover Sheet, that means that it is no longer in the place where On-Screen Takeoff is linked and cannot be displayed on the Image tab.
In order to re-link images to a new location or folder, follow these steps:
- Open the Cover Sheet
- Select the image that needs to be re-linked by clicking it once - Multiple images may be selected by holding down the <Ctrl> key on the keyboard and clicking the desired images or select a range of images by clicking the first one, holding down the <Shift> key and clicking on the last image
NOTE: To change multiple pages, all of the image files must be located in the same folder. This process may be repeated multiple times - After highlighting all the images to change click the Change Folder icon
- In the Change Folder dialog, choose the Path field (either Image or Overlay) using the drop down arrow
- The Change field will be populated with the folder path for the selected images from the Cover Sheet - this field can also be updated manually
- In the To field manually type in the new path, or use the Lookup tool to browse for the file path
- Click the Change button to change the path for each row selected on the Pages tab - this will process the change and close the dialog box - Clicking the Close button will close the dialog box without processing the change
