Overview

Legacy installs of both Physical and Virtual Enterprise License Manager contain a configuration file with hard coded IP addresses pointing to servers that are no longer active. ELM users experiencing connection issues will need their configuration file updated in order to continue utilizing their license server. A replacement configuration file can be downloaded below and a manual process is also detailed should the replacement file be unable to assist in the process.

Note
The configuration file and default install directory is the same for both PELM and VELM: C:\Program Files (x86)\On Center Software\Enterprise License Manager\oncenter\ocslmtrans.exe.config. At a high level you will need to edit this configuration file replacing the IP address with apollo.oncenter.com and then restart the ELM service.

If any part of this is unclear to you, please contact your IT department or On Center Technical Support at 866-689-5687.

Download and Replace the Configuration File

1.) Download the replacement ocslmtrans.exe.config configuration file by clicking the button below.

Download Download

If that button is inactive, just type the following URL in your browser window: "http://downloads.oncenter.com/Downloads/lm/ocslmtrans.exe.config".

Download the replacement configuration file and save it to an easily accessible folder (your "Downloads" folder or your Desktop is a great place).

Copy and Paste this file to wherever Enterprise License Manager is installed (by default, ELM is installed here: C:\Program Files (x86)\On Center Software\Enterprise License Manager\oncenter\" - If License Manager is installed someplace else, do a search for that file and replace it wherever you find it.

"Good" vs "Bad" config file examples

To help verify if that config file is updated, download and review the sample “good” and "bad" configuration files by clicking this button:

Download Download

If your config file matches the "good" example, there is nothing more you need to do, congratulations, all you need to do is restart the "Transport Service" (see below).

If your config file matches the "bad" example, follow the steps above and be sure you replace the old configuration file with the new one. If you run into any problems, give the Support Team a call.

Restart the Transport Service

To update the transport service, open Task Manager on your computer and click on the "Services" tab (you won't find these in the Windows Services applet, only in Task Manager).

Windows Task Manager

For ELM (Physical Edition), the Transport Service is named "OCS ELM Transport Service"

For ELM (Virtual Server Edition), the Transport Service is named "ELM_Transport_Service"

Right-click on the service and select "Restart".
