Be sure to rate this article 5 Stars if you find it helpful!

Foremen receive DPM Bid Packages from the Project Manager - these Bid Packages setup the Bid in the active database (if there is no open database, you will be prompted to open or create one).

Note
Foremen, if you haven't signed up for Project Express, review the previous articles so you can download the projects your Project Manager has sent to you.

Receiving a file through Project Express is as easy as 1-2-3:

  1. Click on the Project Express Tab (select the Inbox if not already selected)
  2. Enter in your Project Express Account Credentials (if not previously saved)
  3. Double-click the file to import it into the current database

Refreshing the Project Express Tab

The Project Express Inbox and Outbox are refreshed separately. Refreshing the Inbox or Outbox displays the most current information. Click the Refresh button next to the Current Folder drop down menu - only the current folder is refreshed. As a reminder, your Maintenance Subscription and Project Express account information are checked every time the Project Express Tab is refreshed.

The Project Express Tab refreshes the Inbox and Outbox whenever the Tab is selected - it is only necessary to manually refresh the Tab if the user is waiting for a file and doesn't navigate away from the Project Express Tab.

Downloading Files

On the Project Express Tab, double click a file to download and import it

To download a file from the Inbox:

Double-click on the file to download - a status dialog appears displaying the status of the download.

Once the download is complete, the project file is imported automatically into the current database.

Warning
When downloading/importing an OSP or DPM (package) file, if the Bid already exists in the database, you will be required to confirm you want to overwrite the existing Bid. The import process does not continue until the warning is acknowledged. Overwriting a Bid is permanent and irreversible. If you overwrite a Bid, unsent changes made to the Bid will be lost and cannot be recovered. To clarify: any DPC Changes not sent to and received by the Project Manager will be permanently lost.

If in doubt, Do not click "YES" when prompted to overwrite the bid. Import the bid into a new database first or call your Project Manager or On Center's Support group.

When prompted to overwrite a bid, be sure you have been in contact with everyone working the job and have imported all changes

If the inbox shows an invalid or incomplete file name, it is likely that the sender is using a version of the product that is not the same as yours. DPC will not allow you to import a file sent from an older or newer version to prevent bid corruption. Project Managers and Foremen must coordinate installing any product updates. See Related articles for important information about installing any program updates.

After downloading/importing, you will be taken to the Bids Tab, where the new Bid will be listed and selected.
