Now that you've setup program and database options, it is necessary to review the Master tables in the database. Do you need to know what Masters are or what a Database is? No, not really. You just need to know there's some information you need to add to DPC such as Employees before you get to managing your project.

Digital Production Control uses four Master Tables, detailed below. The options in the Master menu are also referred to as Master menu tables. The other tables, not covered below, are covered in the On-Screen Takeoff User Guide, see Related Articles.

Click Master in the menu bar to see the Master tables available

Option What it does/How it is used...
Employees Employees are anyone associated with a project: the Estimator, Project Manager, Foreman, and Work Crew all need to be added to Employees.
Job Statuses Job Statuses indicate what stage a project is in and allows an estimator to make a project 'read only'. The Bids Tab can be grouped by Job Status.
Cost Codes (Labor) Cost Codes are used to properly separate and allocate Labor activities. Labor Cost Codes are brought over from Quick Bid when a bid is 'flipped' to DPC Mode.
Payroll Classes Payroll Classes designate groups of employees (Carpenters, Estimators, Framers, etc.). The Timecard Tab - Employee Grid can be grouped by Payroll Classes so it is best to assign a Payroll Class to every employee who will be working on a project.

Other options are specific to using On-Screen Takeoff in Takeoff mode and are discussed in the OST User Guide.

Cost Codes and Payroll Classes are added to the database automatically during the final update when a Bid is synchronized with Quick Bid to prepare it for DPC Mode. There may come a time when the Project Manager or Foreman needs to review, add, or edit this information, this is detailed in the following pages.

Note
Foremen - the only master information you really need to understand is Employees. Both the Project Manager and Foreman can add and modify employees.
