Caching means that the program is creating a temporary, printable image of the selected page or pages. When you preview multiple pages, a dialog box indicates the progress while the program caches the images for printing,

Caching progress bar

Note
On projects with a large number of pages, Architectural-sized plans, or complex images, this caching process may take several minutes (this is why the default for this screen is not "All Pages"). To reduce your wait time, adjust your settings to preview only the "Selected Page" or "Pages with Takeoff". If your computer runs low on resources, you may need to print the Current Page then return the Image window, navigate to a different page, preview it, and so on.

If you are experiencing problems with printing your plans/takeoff to a plotter, review OST - Common Printing Issues.

There are several options for What gets printed including:

  • the Current View (default), covered in the next article
  • Current Page, see Related Articles
  • Pages with Takeoff, see Related Articles
  • All Pages, see Related Articles

You can choose what scale to print to and choose the printer and quality.

There is even a function to print a specific, selected region of a plan to a specified page size - the Print Area control (OST calculates the scale and lists it on the printout automatically), see Related Articles.

We will start with printing the Current View - the default selection.
