Bids can be copied from one database to another (for example, if a company migrates from Microsoft Access to SQL or when the time comes to create a new database for a new business year). Both databases must be visible in the Bid Navigator to copy Bids. See Related articles for more information on managing open database.

Note

When you copy a bid from one database to another, existing records (Items, Item Types, Condition Types, etc.) in the destination database will be used, if they exist. Records that don't exist in the destination database are added. Payroll Settings are "encapsulated" in that bid, however, and are not affected by settings in the destination database.

When you copy/paste or move a Bid that includes eQuotes from one database to another, those eQuotes, including the Suppliers and any returned pricing, are retained. However, if you export a Bid, only the Materials of an eQuote are included, not the Suppliers or any returned pricing.

Although you can copy and paste a Bid within the same database - it is much easier to Duplicate a Bid (explained in the next article).

Caution
We recommend against Moving Bids (cutting and pasting) - we suggest that you copy and paste your Bid wherever you want it, make sure the copy is perfect, then go back and delete the original. It's just better to be safe than sorry.
