On Center is moving to a new licensing system, designed to make our clients' lives a lot easier. As previously communicated, there are two options for your licenses at this time:

  1. Local – Multiple Seat: Each Product is issued a license code for however many licenses you own. If your company owns 10 licenses for On-Screen Takeoff and 5 for Quick Bid, you would be issued two codes – one for OST, one for QB. The software (OST/QB) can "activate" or use a single License Key only - you cannot have more than one License Key activated in the software at any given time (see "DPC Licenses below).
  2. Networked – Hosted: Your license counts are stored on On Center’s servers, your users point the software to our servers for licensing (you don’t have to install/activate/configure any server utilities – we handle everything). Example: your company owns 10 licenses for On-Screen Takeoff and 5 for Quick Bid, 10 users can pull OST licenses and 5 can pull QB licenses at the same time, using your unique Server Code. As soon as a user releases their license (closes the program or returns the license manually), another user can use it. There is nothing for you to setup or maintain, On Center does it all. The only thing you will have to do is configure your end users’ workstations to allow communication with our servers, that’s it. Users must maintain an Internet connection if they use "floating" licenses or they can disconnect completely if they "borrow" a license (for up to 30 days). Traffic/bandwidth requirements are minimal.

Most companies can upgrade simply by clicking the "Upgrade" button within the MyOnCenter portal "My Software Licenses" section. However, some clients will need to contact On Center Software to tell us how to set up their licenses. If your company meets one of the following criteria, you will need to let us know how to upgrade your licenses:

Network Licenses

If your company owns network licenses and Enterprise License Manager (physical or virtual edition), we have a cloud-based license manager all set for you. At this time, there is no on-premises license manager available, but we are working on it. With the hosted license manager solution, you are issued a "Server Code" and your end users simply enter this Server Code into the software to retrieve license(s) from the license manager (over the Internet, of course).

Before upgrading, however, please review the following:

  • If you use the "Reserve License" function, you must wait until the on-premises license manager is available to upgrade to the latest versions of On-Screen Takeoff and Quick Bid.
  • If your company owns multiple license managers, you need to let us know how many of each license to associated with each new license manager.
  • If you use license manager with DPC, you will either need to wait for the on-premises license manager solution so you can "Reserve" dpc licenses for specific users, or move your DPC licenses and some of your takeoff licenses to License Keys (see next section).
  • Borrowing is set at a 7 day interval. Future releases will reintroduce variable durations (1-30 days).
DPC Licenses

If your company owns any DPC licenses (Project Manager orset up o Foreman), you need to let us know how to set up the licenses so your users get the licenses they need. Because On-Screen Takeoff can only activate a single License Key at this time, you will need to let us know how many Takeoff (tko) users also need DPM licenses.

You can use this as a template to let Client Services know how you'd like your licenses setup:

  • Takeoff Only (tko-only) Provide us with a License Key with ___________ takeoff-only licenses on it.
  • Takeoff with DPC-Project Manager (tkp+dpm) Provide us with a License Key with __________ takeoff + DPC Project Manager combination licenses on it.
  • DPC Project Manager only (dpm-only) Provide us with a License Key with ___________ DPC-Foreman licenses on it.

All DPC-Foreman licenses will be allocated to a single License Key.

Need for Individual License Keys

If your organization prefers to issue a different license Key to each user, you will have to wait to upgrade to the latest versions of On-Screen Takeoff and Quick Bid. At this time, only multi-seat local licenses are supported - one key for all product license (one key for use in On-Screen Takeoff, one key for use in Quick Bid). On Center is working on this solution already and should be able to offer the upgrade to clients who prefer single-seat licenses by 2nd quarter 2018.

What Next?

If you answer "yes" to one of the criteria above, please contact our Client Servers team before attempting to upgrade your license at 866.591.6500.
