Enterprise License Manager uses 4 ports during normal operation:
Port 80 to ACTIVATE and RETURN license Activation codes - this is the only time Internet access is required. This port cannot be changed, it is hard-coded into the activation utility. You cannot configure Enterprise License Manager to work with a Proxy.
Each of the following ports may be specified using the license server management interface (http://localhost:8090):
The FLEXnet License Server management interface uses port 8090 by default (this is the administrator console web site).
The Server Port is used by the lmadmin service to communicate with the vendor daemons running on the erver. The default Server Port is assigned by Windows from a range between 27000 and 27009 depending on which port is available when the service starts.
TheVendor Daemon Port is used by oncenter.exefor communication between the license server and the workstations and is assigned by Windows unless specified in the Vendor Daemon configuration screen. This port can change depending on what Windows assigns; so it is possible that Enterprise License Manager may stop working after a server reboot if this port assignment changes and your Firewall starts blocking communication. Because of this, it may be difficult to configure your firewall to allow continued communication between the workstations and the server.
Configure Custom Ports
To make firewall configuration easier, you can assign custom server ports.
Open the LMAdmin license server management interface (see Related articles).
License Server Management Utility
Click on Server Configuration, the screen defaults to "Web Server Configuration"
Enter in any valid port for "HTTP Port"
Click Save - when you want to start the management utility again, you would type "LocalHost:"<port number> in your Web browser
Server Port
Click on Server Configuration (if it is not already open)
Click on License Server Configuration
Click on "Use this Port" and enter a valid port number (5 digits)
Click Save - you will need to restart the LMAdmin service in order to effect this change (see Related articles for information on Restarting Enterprise License Manager)
Vendor Daemon (oncenter.exe)
Click on Vendor Daemon Configuration
Click on oncenter in the daemon list
Under Vendor Daemon Port, click on "Use this Port" and enter a valid port number (5 digits)
Click Save - for this change to take effect, restart the vendor daemon (see Related articles for information Restarting Enterprise License Manager)
Workstation Authorization
When you assign custom ports, your end users must enter this information in the Check Authorization dialog box in the Product(s). The format for entering in this information is: ";<port#>@<Server name>" - the user must include the preceding semi-colon ";" and the "@" symbol.
Example:
In this example, the server (qatech1v) is configured so that the vendor daemon is using port "11088".
