You can override the burden percentage from the Markup Detail dialog. Overriding these settings will apply all adjustments to the burden marked Labor Override in the Burdens tab of the Payroll Settings dialog box. In the example below BURDEN-LABOR is the override code.
Make sure you have selected the Labor Burden in the Payroll Settings dialog that you want to override. See Setting Up Payroll Classes, Wages and Burdens for more information.
Open the Markup Detail dialog and set the view to Select all bid sections for either the base bid or change order (see previous article for more information on the View function).
If you select a bid section, the Markup Detail dialog for that bid item will open, but the Labor Burden Override will not be accessible. It is only available when Select all bid sections is selected.
If Include accepted alternate sections is selected when adding Labor Override to the base bid, then the Labor Override will be added to all bid sections and the accepted alternates for that base bid.
In the Labor column, the Tax/Burden percentage is available to edit.
Enter the value you wish to use and hit Enter.
A dialog box will appear once you make this change asking you if you want to overwrite the labor burden for the entire bid. Once complete, it cannot be undone.
Click . The selected override burden is now stored in all Payroll Classes and Wage Types FOR THIS BID. For example, if the selected burden was labor, it will have the value you selected while all other burdens are set to zero.
To see your changes, go to the Payroll tab.
You will see that all Burden percentages are now set to the value you placed in the Tax/Burden area of the Labor column in the Markup Detail dialog.
Double-click on any Payroll Class in this Payroll tab and the Payroll Class Detail dialog appears.
Note all burdens are set to zero except for the burden type you have specified for Labor Override in Payroll Settings.
