Copying, Pasting and Moving Takeoff

Copying and Pasting Takeoff Objects

Use the Copy and Paste features to apply previously drawn takeoff to other areas on your image. You can copy takeoff from one page and paste it on the same or a different page. If you are pasting to another page, the takeoff must fit on the page and the scale needs to be set the same as the scale from the page from which it was copied.

Additional Information: See Setting and Calculation the Scale of an Image for more information about scales.

  1. From the Image tab, click the Select tool, , and click on the object you want to copy - the takeoff will appear highlighted
  2. Right-click for the Context Menu and select Copy or click Copy icon from the Main toolbar, or press <Ctrl> <C> on your keyboard
  3. Navigate to location (if not in current view) or page to which you want to paste the copied takeoff
  4. Right-click for context menu and select Paste or click the Paste icon from the Main toolbar, or press <Ctrl> <V>  on your keyboard
  5. From here, you can move (drag and drop) the copied takeoff to desired location

NOTE: A word about how On-Screen Takeoff pastes objects:

  • On the same page, the objects are pasted slightly to the right and lower than original takeoff. If there is insufficient room to paste 'down and to the right', On-Screen Takeoff will move down OR to the right. If there is insufficient room to do either, the program will paste the takeoff ON TOP of the original takeoff.

  • On a new or different page, On-Screen Takeoff will paste the takeoff in the upper left corner of the Image View window.

Moving Objects

To move a takeoff object:

  1. Click the Select tool  and click on the object you want to move - the takeoff will appear highlighted
  2. When you see the move cursor click and hold your mouse or stylus to move the object to desired location - You can also use the arrow keys on your keyboard to make minor (nudge) adjustments to the takeoff objects' position

NOTES:

Attachment objects can only be moved to another location on the parent condition. They cannot be moved off the parent condition.

Linear objects are restricted from lateral movement by default. To change this, click Tools > Options and remove the check mark from Restrict Lateral Movement of Linear Objects.

You can copy or move takeoff objects to/from Alternates and Change Orders. Simply use the Bid View drop down menu to select the Base Bid, Alternate or Change Order - just like selecting any other page within your project. You don't even have to create the condition(s) in the Alternate or Change Order - On-Screen Takeoff will do that for you automatically when it pastes in the takeoff objects.
