20.01 Using a Digitizer or Wacom Tablet

On-Screen Takeoff supports using GTCO brand Digitizers and Wacom Tablets to perform takeoff.

Digitizer Reference

Digitizer or Wacom Tablet

This is where your plans will go when performing takeoffs. Sometimes called a digitizing board. Not to be confused with a Tablet PC which is a fully functioning computer in a pen-enabled format.

Stylus Pen

Tool used to plat points to create takeoffs and generate quantities. Also called your digitizer pen. Some are tethered to your digitizer or tablet while others are cordless.

Mouse Pad Template

Used to define a region of your digitizer as a mouse pad.  When you click your stylus in the defined region, its acts as a mouse rather than a takeoff tool.  Use the mouse pad template and your stylus as you would a regular mouse.

Digitizer Active Region

The region of your digitizer that has grid lines.  The grey border area is not part of the active region.

Takeoff Area

After laying your plans on the digitizer and creating a page in On-Screen Takeoff, you need to define a Takeoff Area region on the plans which will be the only region in which you can draw takeoff.

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to install your digitizer or tablet. You will need to install any drivers provided by the manufacturer before On-Screen Takeoff will recognize the device. If you do not have the necessary drivers or installation information, please contact the Manufacturer of your digitizer.
