DWF Support Not Installed
When trying to open a DWF image or when trying to add DWF files to a project or access a DWF image in an existing project this error message displays:
"DWF support is not currently installed. Would you like to download and install it now?"
Resolution
To view DWF files in On-Screen Takeoff, you must install Autodesk® Design Review on your computer.
You can download this from AutoDesk's site: https://www.autodesk.com/products/design-review/download (do not install TruView - it does not support DWF files).
You must be logged into your computer as an Administrator.
Close On-Screen Takeoff, download and install AutoDesk Design Review, launch Design Review (to complete its installation), then re-open On-Screen Takeoff. Now that Design Review is installed and configured (run one time), On-Screen Takeoff should be able to open DWF files.
- Just follow the instructions for downloading Design Review - it is pretty straightforward.
- Design Review may cause On-Screen Takeoff to resize itself and be displayed at a different resolution than usual. This is the only way to view/process DWF files. See next bullet...
- After adding the DWF files to your project, you can convert DWFs to TIF files on the Image Tab. See OST - Converting PDFs and other File types to TIFFs for more details.
- If you have any problems installing Design Review, contact our Technical Support group - we will be happy to help you.
- AutoDesk Design Review is not On Center's product; however, the viewer is required to view DWF and DWFx files in OST. If you'd prefer not to download and install the AutoDesk software, please contact the provider of your plans and ask if they can provide PDFs or TIFFs.
DWF Shows Incorrect Scale or Page Size
When adding DWF images to an On-Screen Takeoff project, the page size (dimensions) is wrong. Sometimes, On-Screen Takeoff is unable to extract all the file information from DWF and DWFx files properly. This results in Pages showing 0 x 0 for Page size, rendering those Pages useless.
Workaround
If you run into issues with a DWF file not displaying correctly or showing wrong Page Size or Scale, open the file (or files) in whatever version of Design Review you currently have installed and then save as a TIFF file. Then, use the TIFF files in On-Screen Takeoff.
Remember, before you draw any
takeoff, you must set and verify the Page Scale. See the On-Screen
Takeoff User Guide for details on setting and verifying scale.
