SQL-type Quick Bid databases may be shared among different users working at different workstations. On Center Software Technical Support does not provide assistance with networking/sharing setups. Each client is responsible for setting up, administering, and maintaining networks, SQL Servers, and user accounts. All questions regarding networking are best directed to a local IT Professional.
Do not store a Microsoft Access database on a network drive or share them. Although the programs CAN access these databases, your database can easily become damaged and unusable. If databases must be shared or stored on a network you must use Microsoft SQL Databases.
When sharing databases, estimators should be required to login. See Logging into Databases for information.
When sharing a database among users, keep in mind that only ONE user may actively work on any one PROJECT at any one time. Only the first user to access the project will be able to edit it - all other users will be unable to edit the Bid - the only notification is the Bid lock displayed in the Bid Navigator and the Bids Tab.
See the online FAQ Best Practices and Recommendations for some helpful information on managing and sharing databases based on feedback from other clients.
