SQL-type On-Screen Takeoff databases may be shared among different users working at different workstations. On Center Software Technical Support does not provide assistance with networking/sharing setups. Each client is responsible for setting up, administering, and maintaining networks, SQL Servers, and user accounts. All questions regarding networking are best directed to a local IT Professional.
Do not store a Microsoft Access database on a network drive or share them. Although the programs CAN access these databases, your database can easily become damaged and unusable. If databases must be shared or stored on a network you must use Microsoft SQL Databases.
When sharing databases, employees should be required to login. See Logging into Databases for information.
When sharing a database, keep in mind that only ONE user may actively work on a Project at any one time. Only the first user to open the project (activate the Image, Takeoff, or Worksheet Tab) is able to edit the project - all other users receive a notice that the project is locked.
See the online FAQ Best Practices and Recommendations for some helpful information on managing and sharing databases based on feedback from other clients.
