Default Layers
Default Layers are layers designated to be automatically added to new bids. On-Screen Takeoff comes with three permanent Default Layers: Image, Annotation and Default, highlighted in blue on the Default Layers dialog.
When a new bid is created, the program automatically adds all Default Layers to the new bid. Those with a check-mark in the Show column in the Default Layers dialog box will automatically be set to Show in new bids meaning takeoff assigned to those layers will be visible on the Image tab by default.
-
To add a Default Layer, click Master > Default Layers to bring up the Default Layers dialog
-
Click New to add a row
-
Type a name for the new Layer and then click OK
- The Image, Annotation and Default Layers, highlighted in blue, are permanent Preset Layers and cannot be deleted from the Default Layers dialog (or any bid).
-
The Image Layer contains the actual electronic plans
-
The Annotation Layer contains annotations such as Hot Links, Text, Dimension Lines and theImage Legend
-
The Default Layer contains all takeoff not assigned to a specific Layer
NOTE: The Default Layers dialog and the Bid Layers dialog, accessed from the Condition Properties dialog, are two separate lists. The Layers dialog box is unique to the current bid while the Default Layers dialog lists all the Layers in your Database |
When a Layer is added to the Default Layers dialog list, it will appear in the Layers or Bid Layers dialog for every new Bid created after this Layer was added to the default list. It will not automatically update the Layers List for previous Bids. You will have to manually add this new Layer to previous Bids' Layers List.
NOTE: Default Layers and the Default LAYER are two different things. Default Layers is a group of layers automatically added to new bids while the Default layer is a system layer containing all items not assigned to a specific layer. |
